I tried Mac/OS instead of PC/Windows a long time ago. Adode does not need to track my footsteps, for sure. I had no idea there ever was a map module. If some day you want to explore that do some reading and ask questions. People have found workarounds as noted like to have mobile access to their files. You are technically not supposed to install both versions on the desktop because simply put - both want to be the boss.
I'm not interested in cloud storage so I never installed it. It was designed for mobile applications but you can use it on the desktop. It sends files to the cloud automatically. Lightroom (LR) is the new version which is about 4 years old. In case you decide to get LR Classic (LrC) it is version 10 now which is the desktop version like LR6. They probably do better than the current PC that can‘t handle Windows 10, the M1 chip is exceptionally performant and there are compatibility layers like Crossover that work for many games… Mac is not known for gaming but I'm no expert. So the map module still works for you after Google discontinued the license under which it was used by Adobe? Problem is I like to use Sims too(Racing,Submarines ,Aircraft) and I'm not sure Mac's do gaming very well. Thinking of going with a Mac desktop, just s I don't have to deal with Windows anymore. Problem with Lightroom Classic is it probably won't work with Win7 which is what I'm stuck with for now. I believe the map module no longer functions on the newer OS versions. Some people report some odd issues now and them but for the most part it works. Catalina and on it will work but you can't install or re-install. Only as used software - nobody should sell it „new“ anymore as it‘s no longer functioning fully…ĭepending on the OS version. I know its all cloud based, but is there a way to get a standalone version of Lightroom 6 anywhere ?. I’m not trying to convince you to use it but sometimes it is misunderstood. I have been using it for 4 years and I don’t have a single file in the cloud. It you choose to sync it only sends smart previews.
It requires local file storage with an option to sync to the cloud if you choose to do so. You install it in your desktop just like LR6. Just in case the new version of LR Classic is not cloud based. Just tried the full download, and it works. People that have moved onto the subscription version might have v6 lying around. I know its all cloud based, but is there a way to get a standalone version of Lightroom 6 anywhere ? I bought Lightroom 5 ages ago, but Adobe has no record of it at all for some reason.
